Hello all!

Look! We’re alive and well! We survived driving TO and FROM the Last Frontier.

Speaking of – – ALASKA. Can we talk about that for a minute? This was our second trip in two years (see our first here and here), and by far the longest vacation I have even been on (48 days from start to finish!). And wow, did I learn a lot, see a lot, and experience a lot. So many things to share with you!

First and foremost, my apologies for the lack of communication as of late. The cell service in the areas we were in was not the greatest – one of the main reasons we chose to go there. Also {and here’s a little full disclosure for you} – I was busy experiencing my vacation. I wanted to take advantage of every minute of every day that we were up there. I know I should have devoted some more time to writing, but in all honesty – I was so busy, then so tired from being so busy, that it wasn’t in the forefront of my mind. It’s a balance I’m still learning to juggle. You see people with their cameras out, so focused on getting a great shot that they miss what is right in front of them. That was kind of what this trip was to me. I do know that with future travel, I will carve out specific time for you, my wonderful readers. I want to share my experiences!

HOWEVER! I did make lots and lots of notes in my handy-dandy notebook (I’m kind of a notebook fanatic in case you haven’t picked up on that yet) and there are some pretty fantastic posts to come.

Lastly, we returned about two weeks ago and it has taken some time to get back into the swing of things. We had to unload and clean the trailer, get used to being in a full-sized house (yay for actual counter space!!), and try to take care of all the errands we needed done before school starts (Ethan is embarking on his SENIOR year – where has the time gone??).

That reminds me; today is my last official day of summer. This teacher heads back to work tomorrow, and the kids return on Monday. How can that be??

But I digress.

So, my little check in with you all to let you know how much I appreciate you and to also inform you that there is MUCH to come. RV/Trailer travel tips, outdoor cooking tips, camping tips, stories about the BEST pizza in Anchorage, sightings of some amazing wild animals (spoiler alert! We saw a WOLF!) AND even some information for getting back into the routine for school like meal planning and freezer cooking! Stay tuned!

I’ll leave you with this fun little dance routine from our drive up to Alaska. Enjoy!

I love cooking & baking, homestead arts, DIY, and gardening {as well as coming up with projects for Mr. Wanderstead Husband!!}...but I love to explore the world around us too! We will figure out how to do it, and eat well while trying.

  1. Cute dance party! I’m glad you took the time to experience the trip and not simply to record the trip. Future posts will reflect that experience. Your enthusiasm is contagious and I am curious about future posts.

    1. My phone is full of notes and things I picked up from locals, as well as a ton of history I learned about the Alaska Highway. I think you’ll really enjoy those posts!
